IIe Encoder In Franklin Ace 1000 The picture above shows the first cut in the lower right corner, along side where the spacebar of the original keyboard would come through. There will be 2 more cutouts, the other side of the spacebar opening, and a notch in the upper left, in this view, for RESET. Yes, the Franklin has a RESET button in the front of the base, but we don't need that with the IIe keyboard. Above, you can see the Encoder is connected by cable, due to the Video Character Generator board being so close to the keyboard and plugs sticking up making it impossible to simply plug the Encoder into the ASCII port. (Yes, that is definitely anti-static foam.) I am working on a better solution for others who may wish to use a IIe keyboard in a Franklin. Here is what it looks like from the front. And from the top. Notice the screws, they are 3/16" diameter. See the notch for the RESET button? I could show you a more detailed operation, and give you measurements, but where is the fun in that. And, if I wanted to, I could have made some clamps and used the threaded holes inside and avoided those screw heads showing, but, it's my Franklin. Do yours, your way. This is just a picture of the ProDOS User's Disk running on a CFFA, and using the IIe Keyboard, newly installed, to get to the LIST PRODOS DIRECTORY command. Back To Encoder Page
